Skin signs and symptoms of kidney failure?

Reasons for kidney failure?

1) Diabetes
2) Hypertension
3) Repeated UTI
4) Intake of excessive painkillers
5) Kidney stones
6) Heavy metals in water

Skin Signs of kidney failure?

1) Xerosis/ Dry skin due to imbalances in water balance.

2) Itchy skin- Localised or Generalised itching.

3) pale skin due to anemia ( low or absent Erythropoietin hormone)
4) Hyperpigmentation due to accumulated toxins
5) Yellow discoloration of skin
6) prurigo nodularis or prurigo of chronic disease.
Excessive scratching can cause secondary bacterial infection and cellulitis .
7) Calcinosis cutis
Deposition of calcium on skin and its normally painless but if present on top of fingers it's painful.

8) Edema - fluid around eyes is the early signs of kidney failure.
Ankle Edema
9) Half and Half nail
10) Brittle nail and ridges on nail
11) Diffuse hair loss and brittle hair

Other features of kidney failure?
1) weakness
Vomiting
2)shortness of breath
3)Dysurea( painful urination)
4) Frequent urination or decreased urination or absent urination.
5) Foam in urine
6) Foul smelling urine
7) loss of appetite
8) Joint pain
9) pain around flank region
10) Mass present around kidney region if kidney cancer is present

Diagnosis?
Lab test like
1) urine test
2) Kidney function test
3) CT scan or MRI
4) Kidney biopsy if cancer is suspected.

If kidney disease is detected early can be reversed.

Lifestyle modification to avoid kidney failure?
Balance diet
Avoid smoking and alcohol
Salt restricted diet .
