Hello, everybody. Clayton here at etrailer.com. Here at etrailer.com we install, test, and review a lot of different products, to help you as a customer make a more educated decision before your purchase. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'll be showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Class Three Trailer Hitch Receiver on our 2021 Ram 3500 ProMaster. Adding a hitch to your ProMaster is gonna be a huge upgrade. You're gonna be able to tow a trailer or use a bike rack or cargo carrier.

Really any ball out accessory you might have is gonna work great with this hitch. Now this is what it is gonna look like installed. The only thing that's gonna be visible is our receiver tube and our safety chain plates. So it's gonna look really nice and factory. You're not gonna see the big cross tube sticking out under here.

It looks like it belongs on your ProMaster. It's pretty common for guys to use the ProMasters for job site working or moving things, anything like that. So being able to use a trailer as well is really gonna allow you to get all those tools and utilities out to your job site. Or even if you're just moving or maybe you like to camp and you just have this built as a camper you're gonna be able to tow a car or anything behind this that you might wanna take with you. One feature I really like is this reinforced collar on the outside of your receiver tube.

It makes it look nice and finished while also adding some stability. Now, this is gonna be a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. So it's gonna play well with a lot of different hitch mounted accessories. Now this does have a standard five eights inch hitch pin. You do wanna keep in mind a pin and clip did not come included with this kit but you can find them here at etrailer.com.

You might be asking yourself, what's the second hole here This is actually gonna be for a j-pin stabilization device. What that does is it goes into your receiver tube, just like the pen. And there's another little kind of hook that comes through that hole and gets butted up against your accessory to keep it from rattling. So if you're definitely interested in one of those you can check those out here at etrailer.com as well. We're gonna have a really nice big opening for your safety chain loops. So you can see, you can fit a couple of different styles of safety chains on there. So you're not gonna have to worry about getting different chains for different trailers. This hitch is gonna be a steel construction. So it's gonna be really strong and hold up well for a long time. And it's gonna have a really nice black powder coat finish as well to help resist rust and corrosion over time. And as far as our weight capacities are concerned we are gonna have a 5,000 pound trailer weight rating and that's gonna be the weight of the trailer and the load included. And then our tongue weight rating which is gonna be a mount pushing straight down on your receiver tube. It's gonna be 500 pounds, but you do wanna check with your owner's manual and make sure that your ProMaster can tow at those capacities. And if it can't, always go with the lowest number. We can go ahead and get a couple measurements for you. Just to help you understand where the hitch is gonna sit on your ProMaster. The measurement from the ground to the upper most part of our receiver tube is gonna be 18 and a half inches. And the measurement from the pin hole to the outermost part of your facia is gonna be an inch. The measurement from the facia to the end of your receiver tube is gonna be about an inch and a half. Now you just wanna keep the number in mind for folding accessories and just ground clearance. So you don't want anything to hit the ground or anything to fold up and hit your ProMaster. You do wanna keep in mind if you do have an EXT this is gonna be the only model hitch that's gonna work for you. And there are some quirks to the install as you'll see in the installation portion. Now, personally, this is a great upgrade to add to your ProMaster. Like I said, these get used a lot for work. So being able to take a trailer, or if you do convert it to a camper, you can tow a car behind it, really anything you wanna do with it. This hitch is gonna allow you to do a little bit more.
