During the third week of September 2022, the train operating company Avanti West Coast hired two vintage trains from two charter train operators to cater for the increasing numbers of passengers travelling to London to see the late Queen Elizabeth II lying in state, and also to watch her final journey from London to Windsor on the 19/09/2022.

This video showcases one of those two so-called Avanti capacity trains, which is owned by West Coast Railways, consisting of a Class 86 AC electric locomotive from the 1960s hauling 11 former British Rail Mark 2 carriages from the 1970s.

Me and my friends managed to ride on said train from London Euston to Rugby, and my friend managed to film the train arriving into London Euston, the whole journey onboard the train, and finally the train departing from Rugby.

So to sum up, it was great to have the opportunity to experience travelling on a train from the 1970s era on the West Coast Main Line.
