This summer, the Global Health Fellows Program (GHFP) II and complementary partner FACES for the Future Coalition (FACES) brought 12 diverse, underserved high school students from California to Washington, DC to explore careers in global health through the inaugural Global Health Youth Summit (GHYS). GHFP-II is the premier fellowship program of the Global Health Bureau of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) which seeks to identify, train, and provide career development support to diverse global health professionals. The three day summit was designed to support the development of the next generation of global health professionals through career exposure, skills building, and mentorship at a key stage in a student’s career formation. We follow GHYS scholar George D. through his journey to the summit and explore the impact the experience had on his career aspirations.
