Samoa Hosts visiting United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres- AUGUST 2024

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa hosted a very special dinner banquet on Thursday evening for visiting United Nations Secretary-General, His Excellency Antonio Guterres at Robert Louis Stevenson (RLS) Museum Vailima.
The UN Secretary-General’s visit to Samoa and the Pacific region not only brings global attention to the severe impact of climate change on Pacific communities but shows commitment to our Blue Pacific region to witness the vulnerabilities of the lived realities as small island states. The visit also highlights Samoa’s leadership at the regional and international level as demonstrated in Samoa’s role as Chair of the AOSIS during meetings at the regional and international fora.
The event was well attended by Cabinet Ministers, the Leader of the Human Rights Protection Party, members of the Catholic church from Samoa and overseas guests here in the country to witness and participate in the ordination of Archbishop Mosese Vitolio Tui.
