Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today I'm gonna take a look at this Dexter 10-Inch Right-Hand Passenger Side Nev-R-Adjust electric trailer brake assembly for 4,400 pound axles. Now electric brakes are a lot easier to install. They offer more user control than hydraulic brakes. Basically electric brakes will only require an electric brake controller which we do sell separate on a website. There's no need for any brake actuator or hydraulic binds with electric brakes.

Now the brake shoes on these brakes they are lined with an automotive grade friction material and that friction materials fully bonded to the shoe, it's not riveted, gives you a lot longer life, more breaking torque. Now these are Nev-R-Adjust Brakes, and these will automatically adjust to deliver optimum performance and breaking power. There's no need for manual break adjustments after your initial adjustment. So when you initially go to install these you'll do the adjustment and then from then on to automatically adjust. Basically anywhere you can tell it's an automatic or Nev-R-Adjust, it has this cable that runs around a wheel and then it connects to a lever right down here that'll actually control this adjustment wheel down here.

So once you get it initially set up every time you go forward or backward this will automatically adjust the brakes and proper adjustment will lead to better break efficiency unless we're on your tow vehicles brakes. This part here includes the 10 inch by two and a quarter inch passenger side electric trailer brake assembly. Now when I say passenger side so you know which brake assembly works on which side when you buy them new, there'll be a sticker on it. It'll tell you right hand side, so that's pretty simple. But if the sticker wasn't there, what you want to go by is this length of the pad on the brake shoes.

So if you look at this one the pad goes from here to here and if you look at the other shoe it's a lot longer, it's from here to here. The shorter pad is your primary shoe. So when you install these your primary shoe will always face the front of the trailer. So that's gonna tell you that this is the passenger side assembly or right hand side. If you notice the mounting hardware I got laid out here is included.

It installs to the brake mounting flange on your axle and this one here is designed to fit a four bolt brake mounting flange. This part is made in the USA and when I mention it's a 10 inch by two and a quarter inch, what those measurements are, the 10 inch is the diameter from this end to this end. So if we get you a ruler just to show you, there's your 10 inch diameter, the two and a quarter inch is gonna be the width of the brake pad. There's your two and a quarter inch size, and we mentioned the application. This will fit most standard hover drum assemblies including Dexter. One note I do wanna mention is this will not work with dalibor 4,400 pound axles and that's due to clearance issues with the brake mounting flange, and getting back to this brake mounting flange I wanna give you some measurements on it that might help you out. So when it's installed this way, here's your top bolts. Here's your bottom bolts. So if we measure the distance between the top bolt center to center you can see it's two in seven eighth inches. If we go to the bottom row, center to center, three in a quarter inches and the distance from the top two to bottom center to center, right at three inches. The wheel size this uses is 14 inch up to 15 inch wheels. We mentioned the axle rating, it's 4,400 pounds. And the last thing I do wanna mention if you notice these are electric brakes. So out back you will have these wires right here. These two wires and electric brakes will require these two wires to be connected. One goes to a ground, the other goes to a break feed for power and they're the same color. So you use either one for either function and as I mentioned this is the right hand passenger side assembly.
