One of the largest museum constructions in Denmark in recent times is gaining momentum. The new building of the Natural History Museum of Denmark will be located in a corner of the Botanical Garden in the heart of Copenhagen., The new building combines the Zoological Museum at Østerbro and the museum building on Øster Voldgade 5-7 (the former Geological Museum) into a top-class museum.

The museum's collections contain 14 million natural history objects collected worldwide over almost 400 years. When the new museum building opens its doors to the public in a couple of years, it will be in a new beautiful setting, where the story of the origin and spread of life can really unfold.

The museum build is funded by Villum fonden, Novo nordisk fonden, det Obelske Familiefond, and Aage og Johanne Louis-Hansens fond.

Et af de største museumsbyggerier i Danmark i nyere tid, tager for alvor fart i disse år. Statens Naturhistoriske Museums nye bygning kommer til at ligge i et hjørne i Botanisk Have i hjertet af København, og den samler Zoologisk Museum på Østerbro og museumsbygning på Øster Voldgade 5-7 (det forhenværende Geologisk Museum) til et museum i international topklasse.

Museets samlinger indeholder 14 millioner naturhistoriske genstande indsamlet over hele verden gennem knap 400 år. Så når den nye museumsbygning åbner dørene for publikum om nogle år, bliver det i nye smukke rammer, hvor fortællingen om livets oprindelse og udbredelse for alvor kan udfoldes.
