Dr. Roland Wiggins, musician, theorist and educator, began his formal music study at Combs College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During his first year, he was invited to join the faculty and moved rapidly through his studies. He received his undergraduate, master's and doctorate degrees from Combs over a remarkable eight year period. After graduation, he traveled to New York to study composition and advanced chord theory with Henry Cowell and was a protégé of the great classical composer Vincent Persichetti. Dr. Wiggins, has taught at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst College, Hampshire College, Williams College and Chaired the Luther P. Jackson House for African American Studies at the University of Virginia
