Frank Zappa - Zomby Woof | Drum Cam | Andreas Sjøen

We did a cover of this crazy Frank Zappa tune back when I was studying music at the University of Agder (Kristiansand, Norway) in 2021. We were finally able to gather in person during the late pandemic stages. So that's why I'm wearing a mask (that is until it falls off during the song..).

The original recording features the great Terry Bozzio. I really appreciate the way he approaches this type of music. Ferocious yet articulate. I tried to stay true to the energy he had during his Zappa days.

This recording was part of an online contest for international guitar ensembles. 5 guitar players in this recording, all recorded live at the University. The arrangement is done by Øyvind Nypan, and also instructed by Rolf Kristensen. Featuring solos by Elias Skjellum (1st solo) and Kristian Stoianov (2nd solo).

Although it's not that visible in this video I'm playing a double bass drum set up. Pretty fun to fiddle around with. This song was pretty rocking, so it gave a lot of room for those kind of embellishments. I had fun with it. We ended up playing it really fast haha. But we really liked the energy in the take, so that's what we ended up with.
