Chest Wall Surgical Process | Surgery Process for Chest Wall Deformities | WakeMed Children's

At WakeMed Children's Hospital, we developed a formal Chest Wall Deformity Center. In the beginning, you have the nurse practitioners who will call any of our referrals, discuss the the care with the patient and family and decide if we need to do any imaging.

Then, you'll come to our office and have your visit with our surgeon. You'll meet our nurses, who can help coordinate any care. We also offer video visits from any site across the state - from anyone who lives far away and doesn't want to make the drive for the initial visit and still wants to get information from the surgeon.

We also do a lot of our pre- and post-operation education with families. That visit is with the nurse practitioner (NP), and during that visit we offer a hospital tour. Julie Torsone goes on to explain other steps that take place in the chest wall surgical process.
