Heavy rains have brought Mumbai to a standstill, causing widespread waterlogging across the city. Streets are inundated, homes are affected, and schools and offices remain shut. The Met Department has issued a red alert for August 19, indicating continued heavy rainfall. Local train services, the city's lifeline, have come to a grinding halt due to waterlogged tracks. Submerged cars and blocked roadways are visible in areas like Palghar, Andheri subway, Jogeshwari-Vikroli Link Road, Malad subway, Milan subway, and Sain's Gandhi Market. Mumbai has recorded approximately 550 mm of rain in the last three days. The Mithi river is flowing near the danger mark. Government and semi-government offices, schools, and colleges are closed, with private offices advised to implement work from home. Flights have also experienced delays.
