Cognitive development implies the
progressive changes in the cognitive
processes like thinking, reasoning,
imagination, memory etc, which go on
from birth to death.

According to Piaget, cognitive development
arises as a result of the interaction between
the individual and the world and passes
through a series of sequential stages.
1. Sensory motor stage /ഇന്ദ്രിയ ചാലക ഘട്ടം (0 to 2 yrs)
2. Pre-operational stage /പ്രാഗ് മനോവ്യാപാരഘട്ടം(2-7 yrs)
3. Concrete-operational stage /
മൂർത്ത മനോവ്യാപാരഘട്ടം(7-11 yrs)
4. Formal operational stage/ ഔപചാരിക മനോവ്യാപാരഘട്ടം
(11 yrs and above)
