ये दिल और उनकी निगाहों के साये ... मुझे घेर लेते हैं बाहों के साये ~~~
Prem Parbat - 1973 / Jaidev / Lata M. / Jaan Nisar Akhtar.
''Prem Parbat - 1973'' - is simply known for this melody in a general view. This gem by Lata was picturised on Rehana & Nana Palsikar. Satish Kaul & Hema Malini were the other actors.
Jaidev composed this song & what a composition - gliding in air like a cool fresh morning breeze ... soft, soothing, & so haunting with liberal use of flute & the santoor. The prelude itself with a killer humming by Latabai plus the flute, santoor pieces & the gliding background rhythm is still the trademark of this melody. This was the song that we grew up often listening on AIR & Vividh Bharti esp during lunch hours, those days.
Jaidev - the master of melody with a strong underlying base of classical raaga composition, often produced such melodies for the common listener in spite of complex classical base - a unique quality that marks his bench as a ''crowned bench'' comparing his contemporaries. This composition in ''Pahaadi'' is a perfect proof of his mastery.
Lata's vocals - need no description at all.
Jaan Nisar Akhtar lyrics so eloquently describe the beauty of the nature ...
This number must have been picturised in the lap of the nature.
No VCD or prints of this movie are available. According to the film's director, Ved Rahi, the print of the film got destroyed over time, and is now unable to be viewed. Another viewpoint by some people is - probably the original film print got destroyed in a fire (I'm not sure of this viewpoint and we should believe in Ved Rahi's viewpoint).
Retro ... This song was composed earlier by Jaidev as a non film song but director Ved Rahi was so impressed with that track that he decided to use it in this film.
