http://www.creationscandles.com When pouring a pillar candle the wick needs to be secured so that it does not pull through the candle mold. A cotter pin works great to secure the wick, and prevent it from pulling out of the mold.

Steps To Follow:

1) Cut the wick to the length you need for your candle mold.

2) Take a cotter pin with an eye large enough to pass the candle wick through, and thread the wick through the eye of the cotter pin.

3) With light but firm pressure slide the wick down into the middle of the cotter pin.

4) Keep one end of the wick short (this will be the end of the wick that is lit to burn the candle when finished).

5) Take the long end of the wick and wrap it around the cotter pin once, and thread the long end through the eye of the cotter pin.

6) Again, with lite but firm pressure slide this loop down into the middle of the cotter pin.

7) Pull the long end of the wick to tighten it around the wick. ** It only needs to be snug. It will not slip easily

8) Thread the long end of the wick through the wick opening in the candle mold and continue with your candle set-up preparations.
