Dr. Watson is board certified in Gastroenterology/Hepatology and Internal Medicine. His special interests include colon cancer prevention, esophageal cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, inflammatory bowel disease, Hepatitis C treatment, hemorrhoid treatment, and health & nutrition. He attended Clemson University where he graduated magna cum laude from the Calhoun Honors College with a degree in Chemistry and Health Sciences. He was then accepted into the US Army’s Health Profession Scholarship Program (HPSP) and went on to receive his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC in 2004. He completed his internal medicine residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI in 2007, then he completed a Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC in 2011.

Dr. Watson served on Active Duty in the Army for 11 years. During that time, he served overseas in both Iraq (2007-8) and Afghanistan (2013), where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He was formerly the Chief of the Gastroenterology Clinic at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, GA from 2011-2015 before joining Lowcountry Gastroenterology Associates in Mount Pleasant, SC in August 2015. He deployed again to Kuwait in 2018 while serving in the Army Reserves before he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2020. On a personal level, Dr. Watson is married to his medical school sweetheart, Theresa, and they have four beautiful children. In his free time, he enjoys running, cycling, reading, Bible study, and leading a marriage enrichment course with his wife.
