Join author and illustrator Suzanne Houghton as she shares the process of creating the Wonderful World of Carnivorous Plants and what it takes to be a children's book author. She will take you step by step from research to writing and creating the final art, hopefully igniting a spark of creativity to help you start your own botanical illustration journey.

Suzanne Houghton is an Australian award-winning picture book author and illustrator who first hit the shelves in 2018. Since then she has been constantly working on exciting projects both in fiction and non-fiction. In 2020 Suzanne was awarded the Speech Pathology Australia book of the year for Goat on a Boat written by Nick Dent and was again shortlisted in 2023 for Wonderful Wasps written by Katrina Germein. In 2024 she was shortlisted for the Australian Wilderness Society’s Environment awards for Life in a Hollow written by David Gullan. Suzanne will talk about picture books to anyone that will listen and especially loves visiting schools and libraries. She hopes that through her workshops and presentations she can inspire kids (and adults alike) to be as creative as possible for as long as possible.
