Sweden Summer Road Trip Episode 1: Abisko

Dreaming of heading north - really, really far north? Our friends Marina and Bowen headed north of the Arctic Circle to experience the midnight sun and breathtaking nature of Abisko National Park.

Abisko travel facts:

Reach Abisko by night train (book via SJ) or flight to Kiruna followed by a bus or train transfer.

Hiking is best during the summer season (June-August). The rest of the year, conditions will be cold and often snowy (though you can ski or snowshoe then!).

Kungsleden, arguably Sweden’s most famous hiking trail, starts in Abisko. It’s easy to plan a trip starting in Abisko, staying overnight in inexpensive cabins or camping along the trail.
