Nusrat Jahan reacts on ‘Kaali' poster row; says 'Let’s not make religion saleable'

Canada-based filmmaker of Indian origin Leena Manimekalai is currently facing severe backlash for hurting religious sentiments through a poster of her documentary ‘Kaali,’ which shows a woman dressed as Goddess Kaali smoking a cigarette. Reportedly, since the controversy erupted, the documentary filmmaker has been slapped with FIRs in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh under the charges of criminal conspiracy, offense in a place of worship, deliberately hurting religious sentiments, and intention to provoke breach of peace. Meanwhile, an actress turned politician Nusrat Jahan also reacted to the controversy and said, 'Let’s not make religion saleable. I have always supported creativity but I also believe religious sentiments shouldn’t be hurt.
