Описание к видео New Normal: How We are Becoming Desensitized to Violence | Emmy Thamakaison | TEDxYouth@ISBangkok

Despite the massive amount of collective news coverage, each crime incident receives a negligent amount of coverage that is not conducive to empathy. This leads to the normalisation of violence and criminal activity in our modern society. This talk explores how we become desensitized to violent crime, specifically gun violence and mass shootings, and how it is detrimental towards the bigger picture. Emmy is a 16 year old student studying at the International School of Bangkok. Her passions include the arts, biology, and human rights and her ambition is to give back to her community. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and spending quality time with her family and friends. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
