The business district, which circles around Laureate Park on Avenida de la Playa, is packed with mixed-use spots, making it feel like a cozy village.

The beach itself is about a mile long and stretches from the sea cliffs near La Jolla Cove all the way to Black’s Beach just south of Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. La Jolla Shores is right next to the Scripps Institution of Oceanography campus and Kellogg Park and even includes the Scripps Pier. It’s also close to some protected marine areas like the San Diego-Scripps Coastal Marine Conservation Area and the Matlahuayl State Marine Reserve, which used to be called the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park.
