Episode Four: Putting on a men's kimono

Описание к видео Episode Four: Putting on a men's kimono

In this video I hope to show you how to actually wear a men's kimono.

Putting on a women's kimono is hard and usually requires a second 'helper'. However, luckily for men, the men's kimono is not so difficult. Maybe the trickiest part is the under-part and the belt (obi). In this video will show you the most basic style of obi knot to make it simpler. Note : this process can be used for a yukata belt also.

I have tried to give some basic instructions within this video but I hope the video images will help you put on a kimono by yourself.

Remember always that you can modernize your kimono and add your own touches to it. Just have fun – because wearing kimono in the Japanese atmosphere is truly amazing.

Please enjoy it!

------------------------------
The kimono (着物 - きもの) is a traditional Japanese outfit which is still worn today. It is perhaps the most recognized Japanese clothing. The word kimono comes from combining the word “'to wear – kiru” and “thing – mono”.

The kimono is a wrapped-front garment with square sleeves and a rectangular body (left side wrapped over right) held together by a belt (obi) and worn with traditional shoes. However, in modern times people have tweaked the kimono to suit themselves, mixing modern footwear or undershirts with this traditional garment.
