Newly set up microfauna aquariums

One of my favorite types of freshwater aquariums to set up is a microfauna tank. Using natural objects like sand, gravel, leaf litter, sticks, live plants and more, this tank is configured to specifically grow out lots of microfauna. Also larger things like scuds and cherry shrimp. They also make great nurseries for baby fish.
This is a little look at a few recently set up tanks. I leave the lights on extra long to promote algae growth to get the biological activity going.
