Faulty Sega Dreamcast Repair - Retro Console Restoration

In this video I take a look at a sad excuse for a Sega Dreamcast that I found months ago on Craigslist. It's been quietly sitting in the backlog and it was finally time to get my hards dirty with another Dreamcast!

This console was advertised as not playing games, so I was expecting the GD-ROM drive to have issues. I had trouble getting the system to work with the controller that came with it. I immediately suspected a bad controller board fuse (common issue on Dreamcasts) and I even purchased the same controller board refurb kit that I used last year on my first Dreamcast mod video.

Turns out we have a wonky controller with this system, and it did indeed need a refurb of the controller board due to a hack-job repair attempt on the fuse by the previous owner.

The optical drive added to the fun of bringing this system back to life with its own set of challenges.

I'm also really excited to retrobright this system, and fingers crossed, maybe I'll get results similar to The 8-Bit Guy and actually look like I know what I'm doing, but we'll save that for a "Part 2".
