impasto painting in oil - a demonstration

Todays video is all about the impasto painting technique! Impasto is a paint technique where the paint is laid on the area of the surface in thick layers. This is most often done with a painting-knife or a wide brush. This painting technique gives the painting a three-dimensional surface. That creates an effect where the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas.

In this video I go over a very basic description of what the technique is, some of the notable artist that have used this technique. Such as Rembrandt, Monet, and Van Gogh. As well some thoughts about how I felt about the technique. I also give as some tips for how to get started using this technique on your own while I paint my very first painting in this technique.
