Bangladesh is a country of natural beauty.

The Sajek is known as the Queen of the Hills for its beauty.

It ends at Konglak Para.

Varieties of plants grow in different heights of the hill.
Among these plants Chapalish, Garjan, Telshur, Sea Apple, Uriaam etc. are notable.
These are the taller plants of this forest.
There are several shrub species also.
Besides, various species of climbers and orchids are found throughout the forest.
These plants, grown on the hills, have made this forest dense.
The Sajek is mainly a hilly evergreen forest.
The Sajek forest remains covered with green almost the whole year.
Various colorful flowers bloom in different plants.
The Sajek forest becomes fulfilled with these flowers.
Due to such beauty, various species of insects are found there.
The wildlife are the ornaments of the Sajek hill forest.
The forest becomes resonant with the calls of birds.
Various species of birds are found throughout the forets.
Among these the Hill Mynas, Green Pigeons, Hornbills, Doves, Drongos, Wood Peckers, Barbets, Parrots, Bulbuls, Warblers etc. are common.
This forest is rich with amphibians also.
Some rare frog species are found in this forest.
Besides, Smith’s Litter Frog, Cope’s Assam Frog, Bull Frog and some other species of tree frogs are found in this forest.
Among the reptiles, there are turtles, geckos, lizards and snakes.
The largest snake of Bangladesh, the Python is found in this forest.
The rare species Flying Lizard is also present in this forest.
Among the Turtles, the Elongated Tortoise, Arakan Forest Turtle are found here.
The Elephants roam here in herd.
They have both small and large groups.
Besides, Barking Deer, Sambar Deer, Squirrel, Monkey, Langur and various other mammals live in this forest.
All these animals play vital role in maintaining the balance of the Sajek Hill Forest.
Numerous streams spread throughout the forest like a web.
The small streams make a larger one together.
The streams have formed the hilly rivers.
Kassalong, Sajek, Massalong are prominent hilly rivers in Bangladesh.
These rivers are flowing inside the Sajek Hill Forest.
These rivers are a unique aquatic ecosystem.
Along with the freshwater fishes, there are numerous aquatic animals in these rivers.
So, these rivers are closely related to the lifestyle of the hilly communities.
These rivers are attached to the hilly people like veins from ancient time.
Numerous people are dependent on the river based agriculture system.
Besides, the rivers are playing vital role as a mode of communication for the local people.
As these rivers are like life of the hilly people, the Sajek Forest is considered as life of these hilly rivers.
But due to various reasons, the Sajek Hill Forest and its wildlife are being harmed.
Excessive harvesting of forest resources and Jhoom cultivation are going on to meet daily needs.
The forest area is shrinking due to house building.
So, the Sajek Hill Forest is becoming unbalanced, the forest is losing its water retention capacity.
The water flow in the streams and rivers is reducing.
Few rivers have dried over time.
It is impacting the daily life of the hilly people.
The supply of essential water is becoming uncertain.
So, the Sajek Hill Forest needs to be conserved for the sake of the life of the hilly people.
Proper application of the laws needs to be ensured and the management system needs to be developed.
The local people can play vital role in this regard.
The environment will remain good if the forest is conserved.
The local people will have good life if the environment remains good.
