Melissa was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer in 2018 at only 34 years old. Since there was no family history, it was unexpected news. She sought treatment at Mercyhealth Javon Bea Hospital and Physician Clinic-Rockton Cancer Center and the team immediately got to work. She says they were beside her every step of the way through multiple appointments, treatments, chemotherapy and radiation. “Dr. Mahatme was very caring and factual,” Melissa said. "Drs. McFarland and Richards both made me feel confident and comfortable to treat my cancer and help me live a long life.” Melissa said the staff at the center were also wonderful. “I would not have made it through without the infusion nurses,” she continues. "I really go to know one another.” Today, Melissa is cancer free and getting back to her life. “Although I’m done with treatment, everyone checks up on me to see how I’m doing.”
