Comparing image quality - Panasonic FZ330 vs G7 and GH4 with Leica 100-400 lens

Описание к видео Comparing image quality - Panasonic FZ330 vs G7 and GH4 with Leica 100-400 lens

These are some test videos recorded in 4K of the Panasonic FZ330, G7 and GH4 cameras with the Lumix 100-300 and Leica 100-400 lenses. They are test footage that I did so I could see how the cameras compared. I have uploaded them as I thought they may be of interest to anyone looking to buy or upgrade to one of these cameras.

I have shown them as a side-by-side comparisons. All of the shots were taken using the standard profile. Exposures were set manually using the inbuilt meter in the camera as a guide for setting the correct exposure. The studio footage were filmed using daylight balanced studio lighting. The light meter was set to show the EV level at 100 ISO.

The most obvious difference between the FZ330 and the G7 and GH4 is the colour balance. The images from the FZ330 have too little red, whereas the G7 and GH4 are closer to what I filmed, but may have slightly too much red. Another noticeable difference is the crop of the GH4 is greater than the G7 with the same lens. I have included the 35mm equivalent focal lengths for reference, however the figures recorded by the GH4 appear to be inaccurate. The camera I used had firmware v2.4 so this may be fixed in the latest release. Compared to the G7 the GH4 had a lot more noise in low light conditions – these samples are at the end of the video.
The Image sharpness of my FZ330 seemed to drop off at about F6.3 and was sharpest from F3.2 to F5.6. The Leica 100-400 was sharp at all apertures and focal lengths.

I hope you find the footage useful. I’m not sure how noticeable some of the differences will be once YouTube compresses it. Finally, sorry about the noise at the beginning, these are all recorded with the built in mics which pick up any breeze.
