What started as a simple First Amendment Audit at the Sarasota Judicial Center turned into a shocking display of unprofessional behavior. Deputies tried to shut down our right to record in public, threatened us with arrest—even though we broke no law or caused any disturbance.

But the hypocrisy didn’t stop there… moments later, one deputy strutted outside smiling and jaywalked across traffic right in front of us after violating our rights. Talk about double standards!

We film to hold public officials accountable, and this is another example of why the First Amendment matters.
