Narromine Garbage

Описание к видео Narromine Garbage

This is the last garbage truck footage you’ll see of mine from western NSW, something I shot on my 2017 road trip when I made a brief stop in the Orana region. This action takes place in the rural town of Narromine, being the furthest western point I’ve travelled to for documenting waste services. I’ve already posted all the footage I took in Dubbo from this particular Wednesday, but in between capturing those trucks there was a cool little single axle side loader working 30min away down the Mitchell Hwy. It was really fun chasing this baby green machine and watching it swing the red lid 240Ls through those wide open country streets. There was a relief driver behind the wheel, but thankfully he was a top bloke and had no problem with me taking videos, so cheers to him. I also tried for an unloading clip at the landfill, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to score this bonus video.

So JR Richards & Sons truck 0767 is a special one. To the best of my knowledge, it’s the last 4x2 side loader the company had produced for residential collections and also the only 4x2 one sitting on a Euro 5 ACCO built in 2012. Furthermore, while it’s not the only truck of its kind (yet one of very few), it features a compactor body manufactured by Rico Recovery Systems and a bin lifter made by JJ Richards Engineering, which is an unusual combo. I recall emailing JRR prior to my road trip adventure to research what was around the place, and one photo my contact came back to me with was a snap of a brand new 0767 to handle the Narromine garbage contract. I knew JRR serviced this council, yet I was unsure about exactly what they were running, so it was a pleasant surprise to learn of what they had in operation. For me it was a MUST to get this mini side arm on camera!

Today a NetWaste regional contract between Narromine, Dubbo and Mid-Western councils is in place, this introduced a weekly FOGO system to go alongside existing waste and recycling collections. Previously Narromine was in a joint partnership with Dubbo to provide a fortnightly recycling service and had a standalone weekly 240L garbage service for regular household waste and organics. Being only a small regional council, a small collection schedule is at play, with garbage done in Narromine itself across Monday and Wednesday, while Friday covers the pick-ups in Trangie and Tomingley, then on only 4 days per fortnight a recycle truck passes through. Previously big unit 0689 or 0720 would come from Dubbo to do recycling and 0767 here would do the garbage runs, but since August 2020 these three trucks were relocated to service the Murray River Council contract.
