Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election and former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, alongside ranking Southeast Senators, visited the demolished buildings at the Lagos Trade Fair Complex and described the action as a calculated injustice against Nigeria’s informal sector.
During the tour of the 19 demolished structures, Peter Obi expressed deep concern about the timing and human cost of the demolitions, emphasizing that the suffering of struggling Nigerians should not be worsened by government actions.
Accompanied by prominent lawmakers including Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Augustine Akobundu, Senator Tony Nwoye, and Hon. George Olawande Adegeye, the delegation promised to take the matter up with the National Assembly, the Supervising Ministry, and the Lagos State Government to prevent future demolitions and ensure justice for affected traders.
