Holland America MS Koningsdam Crow's Nest Lounge and Wraparound Observation Deck HAL Cruise Ship

Greetings and welcome to Cafe Relax! Today, we're embarking on a leisurely exploration of Holland America Line's exquisite MS Koningsdam cruise ship, specifically the enchanting Crows Nest. Nestled on the 12th floor, the Crow's nest is a panoramic lounge at the top of the ship. This cozy spot offers unparalleled views, making it one of my personal favorites aboard.

This journey unfolds during a delightful 5-day Mexican cruise, meandering from the vibrant city of San Diego to the sun-kissed shores of Cabo San Lucas, then back up to Ensenada before returning to San DIego. And with December's arrival, the entire ship is adorned in festive Christmas decor, adding an extra layer of joy to the experience.

Whether you're in the mood for a refreshing drink from the bar or a delightful coffee concoction from the coffee bar, the Crows Nest has you covered. Keep in mind the specialty coffee bar and the regular bar are an additional charge. However, regular coffee, and tea, and other drinks can be brought up for free from the Lido deck if desired, which I have done that before no problem at all, you are not required to buy anything at all.

Join me as we meander through the Crows Nest, witnessing fellow cruisers engage in various activities—relaxing, playing games, reading books, enjoying beverages, engaging in conversations, tackling jigsaw puzzles, participating in board games, and indulging in a game of mahjong. The Crows Nest doors are always open, creating a welcoming atmosphere, although do note that the bar and coffee service have specific operating hours.

Personally, I've found solace in this haven, playing Scrabble, watching movies on my cell phone, gazing out at the vast ocean through the expansive windows, and even succumbing to the comfort of the chairs for a brief nap. The versatility of the space allows for diverse experiences, from sipping lattes to enjoying a Bloody Mary, depending on the time of day and my mood.

Additionally on the 12th floor is the Art studio where some of the ships activities are held such as coloring, and water color painting. Also there is an excursion center here where you can inquire about and book port shore excursions.

Cruises, with their abundant fun and activities, can be surprisingly tiring, making the Crows Nest the perfect retreat to unwind.
