Cruise ships in India, particularly in Mumbai, Goa, Lakshadweep, and Kochi, generate significant revenue each year. With approximately 130 cruise ships operating in India out of a global total of 320, these luxury resorts on the water are managed by 2-4 major companies, including Jalesh, Oberoi, Angriya, and even the government-owned IRCTC.

The average ticket price per person per day can reach up to ₹7,000. While 70% of their income comes from ticket sales, the remaining 30% is derived from additional charges for amenities such as casinos and drinks.

By registering their ships under the "flag of convenience" rule, most cruise ships choose the Bahamas as their registration country due to the absence of taxation rules there. This industry has the potential to earn around $5.5 billion or ₹45,000 crores annually.
