Entry Level DSLR Scene Modes and Effects

I am not a big fan of using fully auto on any DSLR unless absolutely necessary (i.e. handing the camera over to someone for a quick photo). I recently created a video on the fearsome four (P, S, A, and M modes) which generated a bunch of questions regarding the other modes on the dial.

Most entry level DSLR cameras have a variety of scene modes (i.e. portrait mode, sport mode, landscape mode, kid mode, night mode, etc.) and effects (i.e. night vision, super vivid, toy camera, selective color, etc.). In this video I use the Nikon D3400 as a demo to illustrate these options.

NOTE: Effects are processed in camera and the camera does not save the original non-impacted image. This is why I like to apply any effects in post processing outside the camera.
