Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is underway, many actors have joined writers on the picket lines as they push for big changes in the industry.

Plenty of fans are curious about how this news affects those who act on soap operas, so we’ve got some crucial updates for you.

Are soap actors forced to stop working due to the SAG-AFTRA strike?

The answer is no since they’re employed under the SAG-AFTRA National Code of Fair Practice for Network Television Broadcasting.

This is commonly known as Network Code or Netcode if you’ve seen those words tossed around on social media lately.

What it all boils down to is soap actors have a different agreement that runs through July 2024, so they’ll keep working while many other actors are forced on the sidelines.

Contract performers will actually be in breach of contract if they don’t show up and keep working as usual, so that’s important to keep in mind.

Anyone bashing soap actors for doing their jobs is being unfair since this is beyond their control.

The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless actors will all keep working despite the SAG-AFTRA strike due to this special agreement.
