Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route

Описание к видео Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route

At 3015m, Mount Tate is the 12th highest mountain in Japan and is located in the southeast of the city of Toyama. Mount Tate, along with Mount Fuji and Mount Haku, form the 3 sacred mountains of Japan. About 2km from the summit is a volcanic crater that last erupted in the 1960s.

West below the summit of Mount Tate is a long plateau with a unique flora and fauna. At the upper end of the plateau, with an annual snowfall of 40m, the world famous snow road is located. Mount Tate's snow-capped peaks feed Shomyo waterfall, which is Japan's tallest waterfall, with a total drop of 350m, combining the height of its four steps.
Also famous for the region is the Thunderbird ライチョウ (Raichou), which lives on Mount Tate and only comes out for hunt during thunderstorms, when predators cannot take off.

On the east side of the peak is Gozensawa Glacier and Kurobe Dam. Every year from mid-June to mid-October, water is drained from the reservoir, which is particularly impressive for tourists.
