Summary: In the quickly evolving world of work at height, Rope Access has emerged as a practical and safe alternative to conventional fall protection methods. However, rope access is also often erroneously confused with "Rope Descent Systems(RDS)", a work method that does not enjoy the stellar safety record of rope access. Safety managers who employ and oversee workers at height must have a clear understanding of these systems in order to maintain safety. Between OSHA’s recent update to 29 CFR D - Walking-Working Surfaces regulation, the recent release of rope access guidance in ANSI/ASSE Z359.2 – 2017 Minimum Requirements for a Comprehensive Managed Fall Protection Program, and the impending development of ANSI/ASSE Z459 Safety Requirements for Rope Access Systems, there is a lot of information for Safety Managers and Practitioners to assimilate. This PMI Webinar will offer practical guidelines for how to effectively integrate professional rope access into a comprehensive managed fall protection program for greater versatility and safety from a practical perspective, with consideration to industry best practice and international rope access standards (ISO). A discussion of different roles played by regulatory bodies, standards developers, and professional certification organizations (such as SPRAT) will be offered, and opportunity for questions will be provided following the webinar.
