Located on the India-Tibet border is this lovely military outpost called Lamang in Arunachal Pradesh. It is situated at an altitude of 11,000 feet above MSL and the nearest town to it is Mechuka, about 30 kms away.

While Lamang is primarily a military outpost, the route to Lamang from Mechuka is extremely scenic with tall pine forests, majestic mountains, deep valleys, gushing mountain streams, umpteen waterfalls and flora and fauna that is rare and pristine.

Primarily a Buddhist area, there is an army run gurudwara in the region.

Lamang is ideal for those who wish to see surreal Himalayan forest and nature and snow covered roads and mountains. If you get lucky, you might get snowfall while visiting, like how I got in the month of March.

Lamang makes for a great road trip with its twisty mountain roads, road side waterfalls, many army camps and checkposts enroute and innumerable spectacular vistas. Every few minutes, you will come across a photogenic place where you wish to stop and take some pictures and selfies. It is the kind of place where time stands still and there is hardly any interference from the outside world.

It is the kind of place where you spot rhododendron flowers, the red panda and rare Himalayan birds. If I have to put it in simple words, it is the dwelling place of magical nature.
