There is a lot of romance associated with Indian Railways (IR); the history and the legacy. While celebrating this enchantment as a railway man, why and how Indian Railways must rise above it and afford our country sustainable solutions to make itself a transport befitting a country still trying to leap into the 21st century. Sudhanshu Mani retired in the apex grade of Government of India from the Indian Railways (IR) Service of Mechanical Engineering as General Manager, Integral Coach Factory, Chennai after serving Indian Railways for 38 years. He led the Train 18/Vande Bharat Express project, the first-ever indigenous semi high-speed train of India, from concept to delivery. His journey in leading and completing this unique project is recounted in his best-seller book, "My Train Story".
