Описание к видео Newly Discovered Asteroid 2025 SC79: Should We Be Worried?

Asteroid name: *2025 SC79*
Discovered on *27 September 2025* by Scott S. Sheppard using the Dark Energy Camera at the Blanco 4-metre telescope in Chile.
Estimated diameter: ~ *700 metres* (≈ 0.7 km) — about the size of a large skyscraper.
Orbit: Completes a full revolution around the Sun in about *128 days* (~0.35 years) — making it one of the fastest known asteroids.
Its orbit is entirely **inside the orbit of Venus**, and it even crosses the orbit of Mercury.
Because it orbits so close to the Sun, it falls into the category of “twilight asteroids” — objects that are very hard to observe because they lie near the Sun’s glare.
It is part of the group called “Atira asteroids” (objects whose orbits are entirely within Earth’s orbit).

📌 Why This Discovery Matters

It highlights a *blind spot* in asteroid detection: many surveys focus on the night sky, but asteroids like this stay too close to the Sun to be spotted easily. “The most dangerous asteroids are the most difficult to detect.”
It increases our understanding of inner-Solar-System dynamics — how objects can end up in such tight orbits around the Sun. ([NASA Space
For planetary defence: because it’s large and close to the Sun, if its orbit were ever perturbed, objects like this could be riskier than ones in more common orbits. (Though there’s no immediate risk mentioned.)

Diameter: ~700 m
Orbital period: ~128 days
Orbit: entirely inside Venus’s orbit, crosses Mercury’s path
Classification: Atira / twilight‐asteroid
Discovery date: 27 Sep 2025
Discoverer: Scott S. Sheppard

🪐 Brace yourselves! A *700-metre asteroid* named *2025 SC79* has been found zooming around the Sun in just *128 days* — inside Venus’s orbit! ☀️💫
Discovered by astronomer Scott S. Sheppard on 27 Sept 2025, this rare “twilight asteroid” hides in the Sun’s glare and could help us better understand near-Sun space rocks and planetary defence. 🚨🛰️

Tune in as we break down everything you need to know: orbit, size, significance — and what it means for us on Earth. 🌍
