Live, never released multi-camera recording of Slydell, from June 11, 2002, at the Mint in Los Angeles. This was shot in 2002, has been sitting on a damaged hard drive for 13 years, and was just salvaged today!
Slydell consisted of Brent Roam, Jason Soda (later of Everest and GospelbeacH), the Watson Twins, (Chandra and Leigh Watson), Matt Fitzell, Davey Latter, Aram Arslanian, Brian LeBarton and Mike Sessa.
SLYDELL's roots are sunk firmly and deeply in the fertile musical soil of gospel, country, and soul. Our songs are about betrayal, murder, Jesus, liquor, whores, redemption and Muhammed Ali -- about dirt, ravens, pomade, boot polish, and gap toothed grey eyed girls from East Slovakia. Our songs are about trembling to the marrow, the ecstacy of the Spirit and the bellow of a rushing mighty wind. They're about hooting from the hilltops with a belly full of beer and gnawing on the floorboards of a Cadillac in fear. They're about waking up before the long awaited rest.
Slydell was founded by a lover, sinner, and child of god, B.Roam, two long-necked Kentucky twins with golden lungs and velvet throats, Leigh and Chandra Watson, and one desert prodigy/rock visionary, J.Soda (Guitar) . Good fortune and cunning brought us Davey (Drums), Matt Fitzell (Bass), and Aram Arslanian (Keyboard). All three, professionals at heart. Slydell, deep and beautiful souls. We're a family, we're a band, we're bound together by honesty, purity, love, and soul.
Slydell came together towards the end of 1999 in the basement studio of Ship Wreckards and recorded most of our first album while the studio's inhabitants, the incorrigible Earlimart, were busy blowing minds up and down the west coast.
That's where we stand. An album in the can and one up the sleeve. We play throughout California, making girls cry, making the boys stomp, and making enough cash for a bucket of Popeye's and a side of buscuits. We play fast and slow, we whisper and wail, it's music for good, or money for bail.
