Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast

Описание к видео Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast

Photographs from my visit to Crumlin Road Gaol in Belfast. HMP Belfast, also known as Crumlin Road Gaol, is a former prison situated on the Crumlin Road in north Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is the only Victorian era prison remaining in Northern Ireland and has been derelict since 1996. It is popularly known as the Crum. Between 1846 and 1996 it housed about 25,000 prisoners including republicans, loyalists and even the suffragettes. It has often been described as the Alcatraz of Europe and I certainly found the tour just as interesting if not more. 17 prisoners were executed in the prison grounds.
