Golden Balls (Wii) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео Golden Balls (Wii) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Mindscape's 2008 PAL-exclusive game show adaptation for the Nintendo Wii, Golden Balls.

This video shows a single "episode" played.

Golden Balls was a short-lived games show that was shown in England, and featured Jasper Carrott as the host with a head as shiny as his balls. It's a show that reminds me a lot of Let's Make a Deal - it relies almost entirely on flashy production, and skill plays virtually no part whatsoever in deciding who wins and who goes home empty-handed. All filler, no substance, as you might say.

Like Deal or No Deal, there isn't a whole lot of "game" to Golden Balls at all, but it does manage a reasonably entertaining presentation for the first round or two. It plays out exactly the same way as the TV show, and it makes pretty heavy use of video from the show to give it the whole studio feel. The character avatars are pretty funny too, using one's similar what you'd see in Family Fortunes, with their doughy claymation faces. And those creepy, unsettling, dead little round eyes.

I wouldn't recommend playing Golden Balls. It's not particularly fun, nor does it serve any real purpose but to make Mindscape a quick buck. I mean, did you notice how many things - videos, cutscenes, explanations, or whatever - happen between moments when the game actually asks for your input?

But, given that it's April 1st today, I thought that this one would be good for a laugh. There actually a product called "Golden Balls" for play exclusively with your "Wii." Conveniently enough, April Fools' Day also falls on Easter this year, so it also makes a nice two birds/one stone kind of thing... if you think of "Golden Balls" as a metaphor for the coming of Spring (since the timing of the holiday has nothing to do with its religious significance - yay, assimilation practices!).

So anyway, I hope you have fun laughing at this in the most juvenile way possible. I did. For a few minutes, at least.
