Is Tile Mate or AirTag Best for You? How to find your keys and stuff.

I'm a long-term AirTag user. I'm giving Tile Mate a try. I compare the two on several aspects and recommendations follow.

So, you might be wondering what is the difference between airtag and tile - are tile and airtag the same thing? Well, they both work in a similar way, so there is quite a bit of overlap between the two. Both are trackers that attach to things you own. Both help you find what you’ve lost or misplaced. Both are fairly accurate in locating your items, and both can emit a sound to help you find what you’re looking for.

Both operate on a button battery. So, can you replace the battery in a Tile mate or an Airtag? Yes for AirTag; no for Tile Mate. (The Tile Pro has a replaceable battery.)

So, is an airtag water resistant? And is a tile mate water resistant? Both can withstand a splash, and supposedly both can withstand some immersion. As of their 2022 upgrades, the Tile products have an IP67 rating, just as the Airtag does. Dropped in shallow water and retrieved soon thereafter, both should be okay.

How about Apple and Android? Can an Airtag be used with an Android phone? And, can a Tile Mate be used with with an iPhone? Both work with iPhone, but only the Tile can be used on an Android as of now.

Which is more practical? In terms of being instantly usable, one might argue that the Tile is easier to use since it already is designed to attach to a key ring or other clasp whereas the Airtag will require some sort of case or other attaching accessory in most cases. Both are easy to connect to your phone and instantly function.

Note that the Tile has a subscription option to unlock more advanced features, but the tracker works without the subscription.
