Changing of the King's Life Guard Horse Guards Parade

In this video, Sinead, a guide with Free Tours by Foot walks you through the Changing of the King's Life Guard at the Horse Guards Parade, a ceremony dating back to the 17th century, and through the day until their Dismounting Ceremony.

These events see the two Squadrons that make up the Household Cavalry (the Life Guards and the Blues & Royals) the two oldest in the British military - end and/or begin their shift.

These sentries change every hour until the final Dismounting Ceremony occurs at 16:00 (4 pm) when the sentries are posted and the horses are returned to their stables. This video covers it all.
