Paralympic snowboarder Mike Schultz shares a powerful message about the transformative and unifying power of sport. After becoming an amputee in 2008, Mike hit the lowest point in his life—but sport was the biggest motivator that pulled him out of that darkness. He knows what it means to have a true passion for something and to figure out a way to keep going, which is why his company Biodapt builds equipment to facilitate that same journey for others.

Mike's perspective on sport is profound: it's a unifying force that transcends all boundaries. It doesn't matter who you are, none of that matters. The pursuit of trying to be better at outdoor activities and sports taps into the competitiveness we all have inside us. We all enjoy the activities we choose and develop such passion for them that physical differences become irrelevant.

Looking ahead to the LA 2028 Paralympics, Mike believes having the Games on US soil will unify the country even more than usual. While he won't be competing by then, he'll definitely be there in some capacity, continuing to support the adaptive sports community that saved his life and gave him purpose. This is sport at its best—bringing people together regardless of ability or circumstance.
