Today we celebrate the women and girls in our homes, in our workplaces, and in our communities who are changing our world for the better:

Women entrepreneurs who are creating employment opportunities and bolstering our economy.

Reconciliation leaders and climate activists who are paving the way towards a more sustainable future.

And teachers and mentors who are inspiring the next generation of unstoppable women.

All around us, women are making incredible contributions in business, science, public service, medicine, and the arts, and are reminding the girls who will come after them that their dreams are within reach.

This year’s theme, Every Woman Counts, reinforces the message that women from all ages and walks of life have a place in every single aspect of life in Canada whether it be economic, social, cultural, or political.

This International Women’s Day, tell us about the remarkable women and girls in your life that inspire you, using the hashtag #IWD2023.

We all have a role to play – as partners and allies – in achieving gender equality and building a world where women and girls can do anything and be anything.
