Our video update for today takes you through the immigrant crisis faced by the UK government due to the rising levels of asylum seekers.

The Home Office has acknowledged that the number of migrants awaiting a decision on their claims of asylum has risen over 300 per cent in the last four years, during record waves of illegal immigration across the English Channel.

As per official government data, there were 109,735 migrants anticipating a decision on their asylum claim at the end of March. The risen backlog of cases is more than double what was experienced two years ago and has more than quadrupled since March of 2018 when the numbers were at 27,256, meaning that the list of cases has increased by 303 per cent.

Inquiry from the PA news agency established that the largest diaspora awaiting initial asylum decision are people claiming to be Iranians, at 14,003, with Albanians being at 12,740 and Iraqis being 12,156.
