Lobster is a type of shellfish counts as a special and expensive delicacy, mostly because cooking the lobster live instead of killing it first and cooking later. Lobster is not only delicious, but it can also provide several health benefits as well.

Like other shellfish types, lobster is low in calories but high in protein. This makes lobster a great option if you are trying to drop some weight or maintain your healthy weight.

Health benefits of Lobster

Protein is essential for the human body. It is required for muscle building and preventing muscle loss, and it protects bone health. Protein is vital if you are working out regularly.

Lobster is relatively high in fat and cholesterol. But it is not a significant source of saturated fat, which research suggests is the cause of high cholesterol levels and heart disease. Lobster is rich in vitamin A, calcium, iron, copper, selenium, zinc, phosphorus, vitamin B12, vitamin E, and magnesium. It also contains smaller amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, but it is still a considerable amount.

Omega-3 is essential to include in your diet because your body can’t make it, and it is associated with several health benefits. Including lobster in your diet can reduce inflammation, lower blood pressure, reduce dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other brain diseases and reduce cancer risk.

Vitamin B and vitamin B12 are essential for cognition and brain function. Lobster also contains choline, which also contributes to a healthy nervous system. By eating lobster, you can reduce the risk of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Phosphorus and calcium play an important role in bone health. Calcium also supports nerve health, and phosphorus nourishes cell membranes. Selenium is an important mineral that you can’t find in many foods. Selenium supports thyroid health and bone health.

You can buy frozen lobster usually in supermarkets. Always defrost your frozen lobster in the refrigerator, not at room temperature. You can eat it as a main course with a side dish or add it to your pasta, salad, or sandwich.
