At present, nearly 9,000 vehicles pass through Ayyappa Society Junction every hour and it is expected to increase to 19,000 vehicles by 2035. Motorists shuttling across Shilparamam and Ayyappa Society will now have an easy passage as the much-awaited underpass at Ayyappa Society junction in Madhapur will be inaugurated by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) constructed the underpass to facilitate smooth flow of traffic in the area. At present, nearly 9,000 vehicles pass through Ayyappa Society Junction every hour and it is expected to increase to 19,000 vehicles by 2035. underpass works were taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 44.30 crore. Coming up on 220 metres on the Ayyappa Society road and 160 metres on Kondapur side, the underpass, including a seven metre carriageway, will have a total width of 10 metres. GHMC officials used tiles to line the side walls of the underpass. GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said the civil works were completed nearly five months in advance.
