The Salon series brings together, “in conversation,” some of the leading voices from the art and architecture world. Drawing directly from the National Academy’s esteemed and extensive membership of over 420 National Academicians, the intimate interview-style of the salons will provide a unique experience for the audience by exploring the interconnectedness of various methods of visual, architectural, and design production.

David Reed, NA is a Californian who lives and works in New York. Reed's paintings are engaged in a crossover between film, the electronic media and everyday culture. His recent exhibition Painting Paintings (David Reed) 1975, curated by Katy Siegel and Christopher Wool, originated at the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts, and travelled to Gagosian, New York, and 356 South Mission Road, Los Angeles.

Odili Donald Odita, NA was born in Enugu, Nigeria and lives and works in Philadelphia. Odita's work explores color both in the figurative historical context and in the sociopolitical sense. His vibrant large-scale abstractions have been described as "showstoppers" and are considered to raise questions about race and society. Odita has been commissioned to paint many large-scale wall installations, most recently in 2017 at the Newark Museum, and in 2015 at the Nasher Museum and Downtown Durham YMCA, Durham, NC on the occasion of Nasher10, a celebration of the first ten years of the Nasher Museum.
